With Yizhen, Sloke and friends at Praelum.

I dislike Sauvignon blanc. I almost hate new world Sauvignon Blancs. BUT. In the way I dislike new world Chardonnays, I loooove Chablis and so I thought I would give the Sancerre a try. Good move.

Fresh off the bottle it was a touch warm, but the nose was… fucking nice? Super random, but my first 2 thoughts were the smell of the first 2 seconds of matches being struck, and almost like (and this might not make sense) the smell of stones in a tumbler. I liked it.

Eventually I got distinct green pears while maintaining that minerality.
Mid acidity. Light bodied. This was peak enjoyment.

Unfortunately, as the wine opened up, it ultimately showed its good ole classic vegetal sauv blanc notes and I started to lose interest in it.

Probably a solid 4.3 for someone who enjoys sauv blanc, but eh. 3.9 cos I just don’t like the grape, but wanna acknowledge the sheer quality of the wine.
