With Hart at N and T’s wedding.

I’ve been wanting to try this for the longest time. I’m obsessed with Leoville Las Cases, and this used to be their second wine.

Unfortunately, the glassware doesn’t quite do the wine justice.

Right off the bottle and into the glass: this was a rich purple ruby.

On the nose: there was a distinct greenness and stemminess. Nose was closed with a red fruit, not dark.

We chose to be patient and let the wine aerate in the glass. As it breathed, the stemminess faded away. The red fruit nose deepened and darkened into more blackcurrent , with a balanced vanilla and wood. On the palate, high acidity, grippy tannins that start off silky on the tongue and became resolved. Strong cedar on exhale. Mid+ finish.

Overall, solid wine with great finesse. Not worth drinking fresh off the bottle, but delicious with air. I wish we had much better glassware to exploit this fully.
