Benanti’s Pietra Marina Etna Bianco Superiore 2018, and Rovitello Particella no. 341 Alberello Centenario Etna Rosso Riserva 2016.

Both shared with Brandon.

Ah, back to where we started. I used to only drink Chiantis. Then I met Brandon, who basically introduced me to the world of Italian wines. But I’m not really an adventurous guy, so I still rely on him to introduce me to new winemakers that I honestly wouldn’t even care to try.

The Etna Bianco: I told Brandon I was browsing wine stores in New York. He says if I come across this I must buy it because it’s one of his favorite white wines (bold statement), and impossible to find in Singapore. Then he finds it in Singapore. So here we are.

The Etna Rosso? That’s also his idea. There was a time I was IN LOOOOOVE with Etna Rossos. There is something about that volcanic soil man. You can always smell and taste the minerality. Anyway I said yes. So here we are.

Side note, if you look at the serial numbers: it’s actually quite remarkable how tiny the annual production is? 8000 and 2500 bottles is like, nothing. Damn.

I’m fairly confident Brandon is either stress-buying or celebratory-buying in anticipation of the new kid.

Side note / PSA: I’m pretty sure Angra wine does not store their wines in a temp controlled environment, since both arrived at room temp without any condensation whatsoever. I find that super annoying.
