With the wine hoes at Shao Rangoon.
YES. Montrose. YES.
The 2008 last night was great. The 2014 is better.
Decanted for 1.5 hours, then aerated in bottle for an hour.
In the glass: deep dark inky ruby with tiny bit of purple.
On the nose: again, Montrose needs a ton of air. The nose was relatively meek after 1.5 hours in decanter and 0.5 hrs in bottle. But once it hit 3.5 of total air… bloom. Deep dark blackberry, blackcurrant, bits of blueberries. Focused. Linear. Christmas spice and cedar. High intense minerality. Dark and broody.
On the palate: concentrated. Palate coating. Long finish with mid++ acidity. Tannins are still very grippy, but weeeell palatable.
So much blackberries and blackcurrant on exhale, although the cedar was more prominent. Earthiness that’s signature of Montrose.
This was the wine of the night. Delicious. GREAT quality. Balanced. Wow
(And can be gotten at a greaaaat price hehe)
