4.1. Sylvain Pataille’s Marsannay rogue 2021.

With the EDBI folks at Restaurant Au Jardin.

Both the winemakers and region were completely new to me. I enjoyed this plenty, but this is a heck of an acidity monster.

In the glass: an oddly garnet color, with light nearly fully translucent body.

On the nose: barnyard funk dominant. Touch of red fruits.

On the palate: high acidity. Super juicy. Body is sorta light, but it has a surprising intensity of fruits on the palate. Mid— tannins that softened quickly on the tongue.

On the exhale: cherry, blackberries and a burst of cranberry. Sweet. Extremely high iron-y minerality. Touch of English breakfast tea right at the end of the exhale.

My, this was delicious. No clue how much this costs, but It was good.
