With Hart, YZ and Sloke at @thewinemonk tasting.

This was weird. On the nose and palate, this was a stunning wine. I thought this reminded me of the 2016 in its intensity, perhaps a touch less ripeness (which was a good thing here), and in fact thought this was the more balanced wine. The oak and tobacco in the 2013 is 🤌, and it is THIS vintage where you can noticeably feel the softening of the tannins

But… there’s something weird about the “heat” from this. This weird alcohol heat in my nostrils that I don’t ever get from San Leonardo. I kept revisiting it hours into the evening and it just kept bugging me for some reason. Very odd. Would’ve scored this a 4.5 otherwise.
