With Hart, YZ, Sloke at @thewinemonk tasting.

Ah, the beauty of a semi-blinded tasting. I came into this with a bit of an uneducated bias: 17 is sorta a terrible year across nearly all regions I drink from. So I expected this to be poor.

Nope.

First whiff of the glass: oh. Whoa. This was beautifully aromatic and intense. Not quite to the degree of the 2018, but it was damn good. I was pleasantly surprised.

On the palate: my first sip gave me a jolt of acidity that I was not expecting. But when I revisited it a couple hours later, I found that the wine seemed to have swung the other direction and became almost a little heavy on the palate. Perhaps not quite as energetic and bright and elegant as what I’ve come to expect.

Waiting to see the pricing on this, but could be one of the 2 value plays from the night.
