With Hart, YZ, Sloke at @thewinemonk tasting

Standout features: a distinctly heightened note of tobacco over the others. And pepper. Blackcurrant and blackberries dominant. Very dense and intensely aromatic.

Just when I thought 2017 was starting to show softening tannins, the 2016 came on with a more tannic palate, but it had a very very grainy characteristics to it. I imagine with time, this is going to soften into this powdery silky tannin.

The 2016 tasted very ripe (having a touch of plum), but overall better balanced and more beautiful than the 2017.
