This was recommended to me as a cold vintage Syrah.

In the glass: ruby with a slightest tinge of purple. Surprisingly mid- body.

On the nose: fresh bright Cherries, bright lift of spicy stems and white pepper. Aromatic, energetic, bright.

On the palate: mid+ acidity with a lot of energy. Mid++ intensity of fruit, but mid- body. Juicy. And a perfect 13.5% alcohol.

I’m super new to cold vintage syrahs, but this has been sucha enjoyable experience. That said, this wine was a little… too pretty?

The Chave Saint Joseph 21 was also a cold vintage Syrah, although with a touch more concentration, and muuuuch more “typicity” of the grape – blackcurrant, savory meatiness. This clonakilla was sooo incredible red fruited, fresh and bright, it almost seemed oddly…. Burgundian. Heh!
