Bottle from me.

Sigh. I’d like to say I bought this as part of my learning on pure cab francs. But the truth is part of me was hoping I could replicate the magic of Clos Rougeard.
This was not it.
This is a wine that requires A TON of air: I should’ve just decanted it.

In the glass: rich ruby, mid bodied.
On the nose: initially meek, with just a mild waft of earthiness. Darkish red berries. What a disappointment.
But thankfully with air: the wine continued to open up and intensify. Aromatic lift of cedar, and this earthy incense note. At its peak, decent intensity of blackcurrants and a cherry-tone. I left a half portion sitting for a long time, and when I revisited it, became almost entirely red fruited with red plums.
On the palate; considerably better than the nose. Bright juicy high acidity, although with just a mid intensity, and mid- body. Decent length on the finish, but nothing spectacular.
The wine was probably at its best with nearly 1.5 hours of air in the bottle and another 1.5 in the glass. That said, this is was no CR – this did not have that intensely intoxicating aromatics unfortunately.
