With Hart at the Crystal Wine tasting.

HUH. This was surprisingly good.

I avoided Sonoma Coast Pinots like the plague for a long time. There was this period of Pinots that were SO big and ripe and sweet and over oaked. Terrible.

But this, is a damn good Pinot.

In the glass: dull ruby with a pinkish hue. Cloudy and seemingly unfiltered (didn’t manage to verify that).

On the nose: on this gentle splash of stemmy spices, intense dark berries, earthiness. A sweet and intensely aromatic bouquet.

On the plate: a beautiful tannin structure – just enough to give it structure, but releases the palate quickly. It’s ripe red fruits, touch of residual sugar, mid++ acidity and incredibly energetic and juicy.

This was damn delicious. I need to research more.
